In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Personal, attentive service — The host is repeatedly praised for going out of her way — from local advice to moving her car for a guest's parking spot.
  • Memorable breakfast in the garden — Breakfast served in the garden is a highlight, especially the coffee and hand-squeezed orange juice.
  • Views over Malaga and Gibralfaro — Several suites and the terrace offer views of the city and the Gibralfaro castle.
  • Historic charm, modern comfort — A beautifully old building with immaculately clean, elegant rooms and comfortable beds.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Hilltop location means an uphill walk back — The hotel sits above the centre, so returning from the old town is a slight climb.
  • Limited in-house facilities — No restaurant (apart from breakfast), spa, or gym on site – a simple, personal stay.
  • Check-in window is 15:00–23:00 — Arrivals outside these hours may need to coordinate with the owner, possibly adding friction for late flights.
  • No pets allowed — The hotel does not accommodate pets, which may rule it out for some travellers.

“I really enjoyed my three-night stay in this beautiful, historic building. The bed was spacious, the bathroom felt luxurious, and the whole experience was a highlight of my trip.”

8.1Verified guest

“Our room with a balcony had a calm, lovely view over Malaga and the Gibralfaro. It was roomy, spotless, and comfortable. Breakfast in the garden was excellent, especially the coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. The staff were all very friendly, kind, and helpful. There were nice restaurants and cafés close by, and it was a ten-minute walk downhill to the city centre, with a bus stop right outside. We caught some of the Semana Santa processions—some of the best ones started near the hotel—and also went to a bullfight at the Malagueta.”

8.1Verified guest

“It was genuinely wonderful—the atmosphere, the hospitality, and how attentive the staff were. The views from the windows were unforgettable, the patio was cosy, and even breakfast felt romantic. You don't need a guide because the hostess knows everything about the area and will help with any problem. I'm still on holiday in Spain, but I already miss this lovely place and hope to return.”

“Spotless, absolutely perfect room with a large bathroom, shower, hairdryer, and bath sheets. Breakfast had a splendid variety. The location is very close to Santa Maria de la Victoria, and the staff were obliging throughout.”
